Fiberlicious Cotton

The Cropped Cardigan project has been scrapped. It wasn't the yarn's fault; I just couldn't modify the design to my satisfaction. It is hard to pull off a reaaaaalllllly deep neckline like that when you have curves, and every time I tried it on, I didn't like how I looked. I tried to raise the neckline twice, and gave up on a third attempt when I realized that I would have to frog the entire thing to raise it further. I haven't actually frogged it entirely; I figure I have a giant gauge swatch to study, measure, wash, and observe. Perhaps the Sylvan Spirit will be some kind of sweater-y thing (remember my yardage issues?) or maybe something else.

But I am not chastened in my attempts to actually make myself a sweater. My next try?

Tomato, in chocolate brown King Tut Cotton, with no fair-isle stripe across the chest or anywhere else for that matter. Knitting Daily reinforced my interest in a pattern that I had previously noticed at MDSW and during a perusal of No Sheep For You. My love of raglans knitted from the top down is well-documented, and despite my failure with the cardigan this week, I am quite excited for this top!

I think you made a wise decision, as I think Tomato is a more flattering type of sweater anyway.

As much as I like the idea of the Cropped Cardigan, I had no interest in knitting it - but I'm seriously considering the Tomato as well.

I'm sorry the Cropped Cardigan didn't work out, but the best thing about knitters is that we always just happen to have a backup project (or two, or three, or a dozen) when one project doesn't work out.

I like the clean lines of Tomato; the stripe is nice, but I think it will be just as pretty without it. I love that brown yarn!! Good luck!

Cropped cardigan? What cropped cardigan? We hardly knew thee.

And hey, my knitting group was just talking today about how Tomato would be really great knit in one color without that stranded stripe anywhere on it...and here you are, knitting it in that yummy chocolate color. It's gonna be fab!

Sorry to hear about the failed Cropped Cardigan. Better to make the decision now, though, than after you've finished it against your better judgment and then had it sit in your closet, unworn, for eternity.

Tomato is so cute! I enjoyed reading about it in Knitting Daily.
