Sea Creature in Acrylicland

So I needed a fun project for the weekend. I made some progress on the stole, but the sock sat idle while I knit up this fun nautiloid for a fellow I know who is about to turn two. It's a great pattern and I bought Red Heart Classic for it. I really didn't like knitting with this yarn at all, but I wanted to do something inexpensive and very washable. I just kept on thinking about this in some cool organic hemp ...

but he looks sad. Is he sad? Does he have a bad self image because of his acrylicness? Oh, woe. Talk to him before you give him to your little friend -- fill him with love, make him real. And be sure to remind him of his petroleum origins ... he is INVINCIBLE!

"the little acrylic Nautie grew very old and shabby, but the Boy loved him just as much. He loved him so hard that he loved all his tentacles off, and the blue Red Heart of his shell turned grey, and his eyes faded. He even began to lose his shape, and he scarcely looked like a hermit crab any more, except to the Boy. To him he was always beautiful, and that was all that the little Nautie cared about. He didn't mind how he looked to other knitters, because the nursery magic had made him Real, and when you are Real, fiber content doesn't matter."

My apologies to Margery Williams.

Looks good! I love that I can check in on your knitting projects from the Las Vegas airport. Oh by the way, I hate this place. See you tomorrow. P.
